The Zimbabwe national women's cricket team has taken a commanding 1-0 lead in their three-match T20 International series against the United States. The Lady Chevrons emerged victorious by 28 runs in the series opener, held at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Texas on Friday.
16-year-old sensation Beloved Biza produced a breathtaking all-round display, scoring 33 runs with a strike rate of 97 and bagging three crucial wickets for just 18 runs. Loreen Tshuma top-scored with 38 runs, while Josephine Nkomo contributed an unbeaten run-a-ball 22, propelling the Lady Chevrons to 124 runs.
The Lady Chevrons' bowlers restricted the USA Women to 96 runs in 20 overs. The second T20I is scheduled for Sunday at the same venue, with the Lady Chevrons looking to build on their momentum and seal a series victory.
