Chevrons Gear Up for South Africa Test Series

Zimbabwe’s national cricket team, the Chevrons, is set to take on South Africa in a two-match Test series scheduled to begin on June 28 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The first Test will run until July 2, with the second match following shortly after from July 6 to 10.

This highly anticipated series comes in the wake of a challenging encounter against England last week, where Zimbabwe suffered a defeat in the historic Test at Trent Bridge where  England claim victory by an innings and 45 runs.

In response to the England fixture, cricket analyst  Teril Moyo emphasized on a strategic investment in the domestic game.

“Let’s do our homework now. We need to run our own domestic Test cricket league. We need to plan and execute,” Moyo said. He highlighted the significance of the England match, stating it demonstrated that Zimbabwe could rise to the occasion against leading cricket nations.

Moyo also stressed the importance of nurturing talent at grassroots level. “Let’s have a very competitive schools league and spread the game to as many schools,” he added, advocating for the expansion of the sport's reach and the cultivation of a strong cricketing culture from an early age.
