Two Zimbabwean students have earned top honours on the global academic stage, scooping the highest accolades in the 2024 Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards.
Kimberly Kaseke from The Heritage School was awarded “Top in the World” in AS Level Business Studies, while Izwirashe Mabureza from St John’s College emerged as “Top in the World” in IGCSE Chemistry.
Mabureza’s achievement is particularly remarkable: in addition to leading globally in Chemistry, he was also ranked First Place in Zimbabwe across eight syllabi and scored Top in Zimbabwe in Accounting, Mathematics, and Physics. He also received a High Achievement Award in Additional Mathematics.
The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards celebrate the academic excellence of students in Cambridge examinations worldwide. The recognition puts Zimbabwe in the spotlight for academic excellence and highlights the potential of the country’s education sector.
Speaking on the recognition, educators have applauded the students’ commitment and discipline, urging policymakers to continue investing in education to nurture more talent of this calibre.
Their achievements come as a source of national pride, especially during a time when many Zimbabwean students face challenges related to educational resources, infrastructure, and affordability.
Cambridge International said the awards reflect both personal dedication and the support from teachers, families, and school communities.
