The enduring friendship between China and Zimbabwe is flourishing, as evidenced by numerous skills development initiatives and seminars hosted by the Asian economic giant. Mr. Liu Zhankui, Deputy Director of the Division of Human Resources at the Department of Commerce in Hunan Province, emphasized this during the closing ceremony of a seminar for 22 Zimbabwean media professionals held in Changsha.
Mr. Liu praised the deepening collaboration between the Chinese and Zimbabwean media sectors, highlighting the need for continued learning and engagement between the two nations. "The success of this seminar stands as a testament to the deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and Zimbabwe," he said. "I encourage you to apply the knowledge and insights gained here to your professional endeavors, becoming pivotal contributors to the growth of Zimbabwe's media sector."
The seminar underscored China's commitment to China-Africa cooperation with a shared future. Mr. Liu commended the Zimbabwean participants for their enthusiasm and engagement, which further enhanced the bond between the two nations.
Ms. Fu Yunhui, Vice Dean of the China-aid Training Faculty at Hunan International Business Vocational College, echoed similar sentiments, noting that the strong friendship exhibited during the seminar left a lasting impression on the hosts. She added that sharing the latest trends in media during the seminar helped strengthen the bond between the two countries.
Alphonse Mbizwo, the Zimbabwean participants' representative, applauded the Chinese government's efforts to capacitate media professionals through the seminar. He highlighted the benefits of attending the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the China-Africa Music and Film Week, which provided valuable insights into China's initiatives to cement relations with African nations.
Mbizwo noted that visits to the Shanghai Media Group Headquarters and other media companies in Hunan, Changsha, and Hangzhou were instrumental in showcasing the irreversible shift to digitization and the opportunities technology brings for new audiences, particularly the younger generation. He emphasized the need for Zimbabwean media practitioners to strengthen media cooperation and development with China, given their historical ties.
The seminar served as a platform for Zimbabwean media professionals to gain valuable insights and skills, fostering a deeper understanding of the media landscape and promoting cooperation between the two nations.
