A Securico security guard, Godfrey Muza ,45, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing two counts of unlawful entry and theft from his employer, CODAID Zimbabwe.

Muza, who was assigned to guard the company premises, allegedly used duplicate keys to unlawfully access the organisation’s storeroom on two separate occasions, stealing goods worth a total of US$16,000.

According to the State, the first incident occurred between March 19 and April 24, 2025, when Muza unlocked the storeroom door using a duplicate key and stole nine Ardroid Point of Sale kiosk screens valued at US$13 000. None of the items were recovered.

In a second incident, between June 25 and 27, Muza reportedly tampered with the CCTV camera before again using duplicate keys to gain entry. This time, he allegedly stole 10 motorcycle riders’ suits valued at US$3,000.

Despite his efforts to disable the surveillance system, CCTV footage later captured him interfering with the camera and entering the storeroom. The complainant, represented by Grace Chahweta, enlisted IT specialist Tinashe Zulu to review the footage, which led to Muza’s identification and subsequent arrest.

Muza is expected back in court today, for his bail application.
