Zimbabwe’s Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda has said Zimbabwe has highly strong legislation for business entities especially prepared by the Zimbabwe Development Agency and passed by the resolution of the Zimbabwe Parliament.
He was speaking at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, India, at a business meeting organised by the Indian Economic Trade Organisation. During the working visit, he and his delegation had the opportunity to meet with the Indian president Droupadi Murmu.
The networking business interaction was attended by 15 companies with Honourable Adv. Mudenda, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to India, H.E. Majoni Chipare, and three other Members of Parliament from Zimbabwe making up part of the participating delegation.
"We promote Joint Development with Foreign Direct Investment and as well as Sustainable Development Goals for a better work environment.
"Our key idea is to promote tourism in Zimbabwe hence promoting the development of five-star hotels with the involvement of Indian investors," he said.
Honourable Speaker Mudenda said Zimbabwe is an agro-based economy and it requires more of agricultural participation, irrigation methodology and partnering with the educational institutions for more innovative majors from India to Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the speaker has shown immense concern on the establishment of Millet Park in Zimbabwe.
The trade value between India and Zimbabwe is around $200 million with Indian companies having invested about $500 million in Zimbabwe. India has also provided five lines of credit to the country, and has also set up a vocational training centre.
President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, said that Zimbabwe and India should enhance the growing bilateral relationship in light of ties between the two countries that are centuries old. She acknowledged the benefit Zimbabwean students continue to derive from scholarships offered by her country which include ITEC and ICCR. Zimbabwe is host to an Indian population of plus-9 000.
