The Communities Basketball Festival (CB-Fest) will offer free first aid training alongside basketball tournaments this Saturday, July 26, at the Dzivarasekwa Basketball Court. The event aims to equip Dzivarasekwa residents with life-saving skills.

Hosted by Discovery Ambulance Services (DAS) and Hoops 4 Hope Zimbabwe, the festival is open to the public and will run from 9:30 AM until late. Certified DAS professionals will teach attendees cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), emergency wound care, fracture management, and how to handle drug overdoses and alcohol poisoning.

"We want our communities to be health-conscious and emergency-ready," said David Munowenyu, CEO of DAS.

The festival, themed "Every Life Matters. Every Second Counts," also includes a basketball tournament, a three-point shooting contest, and a slam dunk competition to engage youth and promote healthy lifestyles. Additionally, health booths, an ambulance open tour, and substance abuse prevention talks will further emphasise community resilience.

Faith Sekete, Marketing Manager for Hoops 4 Hope Zimbabwe, highlighted the event’s focus on youth empowerment. "This festival builds on our programs to keep young people engaged and informed," she stated.

CB-Fest is a direct response to rising substance abuse in areas like Dzivarasekwa, blending education and sport to strengthen communities.
