Ex lover threatens to kill traditional healer

A traditional healer says she is living in fear of her life after her long-time lover and father of her two children has become excessively violent and threatened to kill her.

Rosemary Chinyanga took Biggie Ndala to the Harare Civil Court alleging that he was making her life uncomfortable because of his threats.

"It has been two years since we parted. He said he was going to poison me," Chinyanga said.

Chinyanga told the court that her former lover’s violence is affecting her work.

"I am a traditional healer, he once assaulted my interpreter at the shrine.

"There was a time he also assaulted a 69 year old man who is my client who had come for assistance," she said.

Chinyanga said the relationship with Ndala which has lasted over 15 years had turned sour.

"He called my sister telling her that he would kill me, he assaulted me the whole night," she said.

Ndala denied all allegations, saying he loves Chinyanga but admitted that the relationship had become strained.

"When we started dating in 2005 she had nothing. I am the one who used to carry her work knobkerries. l love her. Now she is saying l want to kill her.

“It's me who buys groceries for her and our two children. How can l kill her?” Ndala said.

Ndala said the couple was no longer sharing a room, but that he is a good man who had never assaulted or Chinyanga. He

"At times that's her who initiates the insults. If possible I want to live in peace with her together," he said.

Chinyama said Ndala has a history of violence on record and has been abusing her property as he has been using her two cars for ferrying his lovers. She said the vehicles are now in poor condition.

"I have been granted court peace orders against him in this court before,” Chinyanga said.

Magistrate Judith Taruvinga who presided over the matter adjourned the matter to another date to give Chinyama opportunity to present the said peace orders to the court.
