Four female victims of sexual abuse at a prominent biscuits manufacturing company in Bulawayo have engaged the services of a local law firm, Macharaga Law Chambers, to help them seek legal recourse following reports of rape they have since made to police.
The alleged perpetrator, Andrew Dinhidza, is employed by Lobels Biscuits Bulawayo Branch as a Chief Operations Officer.
Four employees of the company have come forward alleging they were sexually abused by Dinhidza on different occasions when they approached him seeking various forms of help.
A 29 year-old woman reported that sometime in 2017, she was looking for employment at a time when Dinhidza was then Human Resources Manager and he recruited her. He then demanded kick-back in the form of sex in his office, to which the victim consented. She said she was afraid to lose her job had she not given in to the boss’ demands.
The second victim is a Nkulumane resident, 33, also employed by Lobels Biscuits. Facts leading to her being abused arose from her failure to have reported for work on a particular day. Her immediate supervisor turned her away, but for one so desperate for her job, she approached Dinhidza for intervention. He agreed to help her on condition he slept with her. The victim agreed, they had sex in the COO’s office and her job was saved.
Victim Number three needed to be made a permanent employee. The 40-year-old woman from Entumbane was allegedly sexually attacked by Dinhidza when he called her to his office, promised her he would upgrade her and he drove to a city lodge where he had sex with her. He also had sex with her on a second occasion in his car near the company premises. The promise of full-time employment was, however, never fulfilled.
The final complainant, a machine operator aged 37, approached Dinhidza seeking his help in the reinstatement of her husband who had been relieved of his duties at the same company. He asked her for sex and she consented, after which the husband was re-hired.
The rape cases were reported on December 7, after which Dinhidza was arrested. The women are being represented by Mary Nyika and Task Vhiki.
