The Zimbabwe Investment & Development Agency has issued a stern warning to the public regarding an online scam that is currently circulating, targeting unsuspecting individuals and investors.
The alert was released via the agency’s official social media channels earlier today, under the heading “NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: Online Scam Alert: Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Activities.”
“It has come to our attention that fraudsters are using the name of the Zimbabwe Investment & Development Agency and images of some of our officials in social media and online trading platforms to defraud individuals and organizations,” the agency cautioned.
The public notice highlights that scammers have impersonated ZIDA’s identity, sharing doctored images and bogus advertisements which appear convincing but are entirely fraudulent.
Individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant and verify any investment opportunities seemingly linked to ZIDA.
“These activities are in no way associated with ZIDA nor any of its officials. We urge the public to disregard any unsolicited offers, demands for payment, or investment schemes made in the name of ZIDA or its staff,” the statement read.
ZIDA stressed that official communications will only come from their authorized and verified channels. Any suspicious communications or offers should be reported immediately to the agency.
“We take the security and trust of our stakeholders seriously. If in doubt, contact us directly before engaging in any transactions purporting to be with or through ZIDA,” the notice concluded.
For further clarification, individuals are urged to visit the ZIDA website or reach out through the agency’s official contact details provided on their site.
