Mudzuri snubs party congress

Former Harare Executive Mayor Elias Mudzuri snubbed the MDC-T party congress, saying that he was not happy with the whole process.

Sources close to Mudzuri told Zim Now that Mudzuri was disappointed with the nomination process.

“Mudzuri was targeting the presidential post and he feels that he was rigged during the nomination process by Mwonzora,” a close source told this publication.

The congress was marred by violence with party supporters threatening to attack journalists.

One party member only identified as Zakeo was attacked after he gave interviews to the members of the media.

Zakeo is alleged to have attacked his party, saying it was a proxy of the ruling Zanu PF.

“The party is now being controlled by Zanu PF, we are no longer representing the will of the people,” said Zakeo.

“There is no MDC to talk about. Some of the people are bogus, while others have been bought by Zanu PF.

“This is why Nelson Chamisa left the party,” Zakeo added and this angered his fellow supporters.

Violence at MDC T congress is not new as the party former acting president Thokozani Khupe was assaulted during the party’s extra-ordinary congress in December 2020.

Khupe has since jumped ship.
