ZEDCON Convenes to Chart Economic Trajectory


 

The Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference, a premier platform for shaping the nation’s economic policy, has convened. 

Organised by the Treasury, the conference is designed to map Zimbabwe’s economic transformation path toward becoming an empowered, prosperous, upper-middle-income economy.

Dr. Thomas Wushe, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, participated in the high-level policy forum.

“This conference serves as a critical platform for shaping Zimbabwe’s economic policy direction,” he said. He further highlighted his ministry’s central role in the national transformation agenda, adding: “My ministry is responsible for driving economic empowerment, rural industrialisation, local content development, and job creation.”

The conference brought together a high-level assembly of researchers, academics, economists, and development partners. 

Discussions focused on macroeconomic and sectoral policies and reforms aimed at broad-based economic growth, with emphasis on key thematic areas such as macroeconomic growth and stability, informal sector development, infrastructure expansion, digital and AI innovations, and regional integration through the AfCFTA.
