Johanne Masowe church members bashed a Manyame Park man and woman whom they caught having sex at their shrine.
The woman later turned out to be the man’s brother-in law’s wife.
Tanaka Musengeyi, 30, was lured the woman only identified as Nyasha, 19, who is Solomon Chawira’s wife, to a bushy area where they were caught by members of Sowe reJerusarema sect having sex.
The two were beaten up for defiling the sect’s place of worship. A passer-by recorded the bashing and posted it on social media.
According to Nyasha, who confirmed the incident, Tanaka had been proposing to her whenever he visited them.
"We were bashed by three men after they caught us," said Nyasha.
"Tanaka murume wehanzvadzi yemurume wangu, mukuwasha. (Tanaka is our in-law, he is married to my husband’s sister.)"
