Bulawayo Chiefs players endured bleak Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations after the club failed to pay them their salaries and bonuses.

And as if those were not enough woes, their remuneration for winning the Chibuku Super Cup from the sponsors was still outstanding at the time of going to press.

To express their frustration, the players on Christmas eve staged a demonstration at the Club shop in Bulawayo.

Some players who spoke to Zim Now on condition of anonymity said the club owes winning bonuses and salaries.

β€œWe are owed winning bonuses and salaries, the club is not being fair to us as they are starving our families at a time when they should be merry-making,” said one of the players.

These recent developments paint a contrasting picture in the camp of Chiefs that has earned praises from football fans, especially on Twitter, who have saluted it for being one of the most organised and professional teams in the premiership.
