The StarFM listeners choice awards for the musicians that performed well in the year 2022 have come and gone, but some people seem not to have accepted the poll outcome.

Among these is socialiate Tatelicious Karigambe-Sandberg, who took a dig at gospel music winner Janet Manyowa after she had scooped the song of the year gong with her track Vaudze.

“Ndakaseka nezuro Starfm posted Janet Manyowa’s song as the song of the year. Gore harisati rapera and just because StarFM yakatonyorwa mari naJanet that doesn’t make her the best of 2022,” she wrote on her Facebook.

Tatelicious is implying that there was an exchange of money between the winner and broadcaster because she was announced winner before the scheduled announcement period. Elsewhere there also appeared to be a social media tiff between gospel musician Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave and another protestor identified as Dickson Kasambarare who also did not buy the Manyowa vote.

Mashavave went to length about the processes and sacrifices invested for triumphant people to be where they are.

“Dickson Kasambarare and those crying foul, understand that music is showbizz . There is an economic and business side of it. It’s not so much about how excellent the gift is or how popular one is with the majority. It’s also about the networking and the investment one is willing to make.

“In Showbiz, everything is strategically planned and calculated. If you are outstandingly gifted but you are not strategically positioned in the music business network and you have no idea what strings to pull or if you aren’t willing to make the required investment for the returns, then all you bag is the excess unquantified love and sympathy from the public who know you are excellent but gore rinenge ratopenderwa.

“Those who learn fast will understand this my humble argument. If u are in it for these accolades, then invest in a strong strategic team that works tirelessly behind the scenes kubelievisa the people in key decision making positions.

“Even internationally, ndizvo zvazviri. Even this announcement being done a week before the year ends is part of a well-orchestrated build up throughout the year towards the grand 1st of January 2023 event. I must say congratulations to this harmonized effort and consistency.

“Whoever is putting this together has sure learnt the international concept of showbiz. Indeed a star is created/made and not born. Just being born gifted alone is not enough.😂😂😂 Food for thought as you rearrange your New Year’s resolutions,” she wrote.

Held annually, the awards seek to give StarFM listeners a chance to choose the musicians they adjudge to have outclassed their contemporaries in a particular genre. This year they coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Zimpapers radio station.

There were 18 categories considered and they included the best gospel, album of the year, best collaboration, African pop, hip hop, R ‘n B, house, zimdancehall, newcomer, producer, best male and female singer.
