Real Betis Academy Chairman in Zimbabwe Gerald Sibanda has hailed the trip they had in Spain and described it as an eye-opener that will open doors and more opportunities for the football grooming institution.
Coached by Murape Murape, the Zimbabwe chapter of Real Betis spent 10 days in Spain where they played friendlies with other academies and had the chance to tour some sporting facilities. They also met with idols from the Spanish top football league.
The academy has a relationship with Spanish elite league side Real Betis Balompié which was founded in 1907.
A total of 24 young players from Zimbabwe aged 9-18 travelled to the European country early this month.
“The trip was very open for everyone who travelled, and the exposure was very important on what Real Betis scouts and other European scouts want. We are looking forward to 2023 and we also need the Bulawayo campus to start running,” Sibanda said in an interview.
He added that they will be tapping into vulnerable communities to give everyone a chance to earn from football.
