Four people from Hopely who stole a car, drove off with the owner only to dump him in a football pitch after stealing all his particulars have appeared in court.
Marlon Dzokurasa, 22, Tanatswa Magoneko, 19, Biton Chabvuka 18 and Farai Muzuza, 22, were charged with robbery or, alternatively, violating Section 126 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9: 23.
The court heard that on November 21, 2022, Dzokurasa, Magoneko, Chabvuka, Muzuza, went and stood in front of a Honda Fit which was in motion at St Peters, Glen Norah, in Harare.
One of them quickly moved towards the door and forced open the driver's side where the complainant was seated.
He grabbed him by the neck, brought out a knife which he threatened to stab the complainant with.
The other three went into the car and forced the complainant to the back seat. One of them sat at the steering and they drove off together.
The complainant was assaulted by the team as they demanded valuables he had. They managed to search and take from him US$ 185, a ZTE Wifi router, an iphone and a wallet which had the complainant's identification particulars.
The four later dumped the complainant in a football pitch and drove off using his car.
The car was later involved in a traffic accident which might have been the other reason that made them to dump it along Bulawayo Road at the Warren Park round-about.
They, however, left an itel cellphone in the car which was recovered by the police. The total value of the property that was stolen is US$ 5 100 and US$ 5 000 was recovered.
The four appeared at Harare Magistrates’ Courts before Evelyn Mashavakure who rolled over the matter to tomorrow.
