Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Tino Machakaire, who is also the legislator for Wedza South Constituency, has urged the public to shun political violence.

This comes as the country inches closer to the harmonised elections scheduled for later this year.

Machakaire also said people should desist from abusing social media.

In a New Year message on his Twitter handle, Machakaire said people must continue loving one another.

“We thank the Lord for the gift of life, I would like to urge us all to be safe and to continue in the spirit of unity and love even as we approach our harmonised elections this year. Here's to a Happy New Year,” he said.

Recently, Machakaire was appointed as the Secretary for Youth Affairs in the Zanu PF politburo.
