The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe has appointed seasoned banker William Biggie Manhimanzi as Acting Chairman of the Board, following his appointment as Vice Chairman earlier this year.

In a notice to stakeholders (Notice Number: SECZ16102025), the SECZim Board confirmed that Mr. Manhimanzi, who serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director, assumed his new roles effective June 9, 2025.

Mr. Manhimanzi brings more than 33 years of experience in the financial sector, including three decades with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and three years in commercial banking.

“The Commission looks forward to leveraging his expertise in economic matters and wishes him success in his new role,” SECZim said in a statement.

In the same announcement, the Commission also revealed the appointment of Grace Berejena as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025.

Mrs. Berejena has been with SECZim for 15 years, previously serving as Director of Policy and Market Development, and also chairs the Capital Markets Sub-Committee of the Southern African Development Community Committee of Insurance, Securities and Non-Banking Financial Authorities (SADC CISNA).

“The Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Grace Berejena as the Acting Chief Executive Officer. With over 25 years of experience in Zimbabwe’s capital market, she brings extensive expertise to her new position,” the statement said.

The leadership changes come after the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Anymore Taruvinga, who left SECZim on October 31, 2025, after serving for three years.

“The Board, Management and Staff of SECZim would like to thank Mr. Taruvinga for his contribution and wish him success in his future endeavors,” the notice added.

The reshuffle marks a significant phase in SECZim’s leadership, as the Commission continues its mission to strengthen regulation, deepen investor confidence, and modernize Zimbabwe’s capital markets.
