Letwin Inspires Dzikwa Students After Chinese Scholarship Success

A young Zimbabwean graduate, Letwin who recently completed her Accounting and Auditing degree in Hangzhou, China, under a Chinese Government Scholarship, has returned home to inspire students at Dzikwa Trust in Dzivarasekwa, Harare.

During her visit, Letwin conducted fun introductory Chinese-language lessons for primary pupils and held an interactive talk with older students on how to access international scholarships.

China’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zhou Ding, praised her gesture, saying on X):

Founded in the 1990s, Dzikwa Trust Fund supports around 400 orphaned and vulnerable children in Dzivarasekwa each year, providing school fees, meals, remedial classes, digital literacy and life-skills training. Nearly two-thirds of its beneficiaries are girls. The organisation also operates a solar-powered activity centre and library, promoting community-based education and mentorship opportunities.

China remains one of Zimbabwe’s key education partners, offering hundreds of scholarships annually through the Chinese Government Scholarship Programme and the China–Zimbabwe Friendship Scholarship.
The scholarships cover tuition, accommodation, stipends and medical insurance, and are administered through the Chinese Embassy in Harare and Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education.
