China has granted Zimbabwe zero-tariff access for all its products, a major trade concession expected to boost export earnings as Zimbabwe continues to maintain a trade surplus with Beijing.
The commitment was announced during the 8th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, where Zimbabwe showcased goods across the agriculture, mining and manufacturing sectors.

Chinese representatives at the Expo confirmed the development, stating: “Zimbabwe’s products will now enjoy zero-tariff treatment. We expect this to significantly increase Zimbabwe’s exports to China and deepen our cooperation.”
Zimbabwe currently exports goods worth more than US$2.4 billion to China annually — up from US$766 million in 2015 — driven by strong performance in tobacco, minerals, steel alloys and agricultural commodities.
ZimTrade officials at the Expo said the decision removes barriers that have long limited growth in processed exports.
“This preferential access will help Zimbabwean goods become more competitive in the Chinese market,” ZimTrade said. “It gives our companies the space to scale up value-added production.”
