A 75-year-old Avondale man has been sentenced to 120 days in jail for assaulting his 73-year-old wife, in violation of a court-issued protection order.
The Harare Magistrates' Court heard that the victim had been granted the protection order on August 28, 2025, which prohibited her husband from insulting, assaulting, or threatening her.

On November 16, 2025, the offender breached the order by launching an unprovoked attack, shouting insults, and accusing his wife of witchcraft. Despite their 42-year-old son's attempts to intervene, the man continued to assault his wife with his fists.
The court took a serious view of the actions, sentencing him to 30 days imprisonment, in addition to enforcing a previously suspended 90-day sentence, bringing his total jail term to 120 days.
