Maskiri, who recently began promoting imported Boer and Kalahari Red goats on his social media pages, is accused of swindling US-based Zimbabwean Tonderai Chisoro out of US$1,500. According to Chisoro, he sent the money via Mukuru in three separate payments to buy goats for his family’s pen back home, but the animals were never delivered. After repeated attempts to reach the rapper failed, relatives in Zimbabwe reported the matter to police under case number CR559/11/25.

Investigators are said to have set up a sting to apprehend him. Officers allegedly posed as organisers of a birthday celebration and booked Maskiri for a US$300 performance, with the artist even offering to bring singer Tererai Mugwadi along. When the officers later called to say they had secured a US$200 deposit and suggested meeting at the Chicken Inn at Unit C junction, Maskiri arrived and was immediately arrested. Witnesses said the dramatic moment included an InDrive driver chasing after the police vehicle, demanding his fare.

Police say the investigation is still underway, and none of the missing money has been recovered. The incident follows similar high-profile goat sale controversies involving businessmen Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, underscoring rising concerns about livestock-related fraud in the country.
