City Parking Announces Shift to Self-Service Zones

City Parking has announced a major operational change that will see parts of Harare’s central business district transition to fully self-service parking beginning 1 December 2025. In a public notice released this week, the company stated that the move is part of its “modernization and digital transformation strategy” aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing motorists’ parking experience.

According to the City Parking, two key sections of the city will adopt the new system. The notice explained that “Third Street between Jason Moyo and Robert Mugabe, and Park Street between Jason Moyo and Samora Machel, have been designated as fully self-service zones.” The institution further clarified that parking marshals will no longer be stationed in these areas, making digital payment the only available method.

City Parking encouraged motorists to make use of the available digital platforms. The statement urged drivers to “scan the QR code on our street signage, dial *192#, use the WhatsApp chatbot on 0719515601, or download the Park Assist mobile app” to pay for parking.

In the notice, management highlighted that the changes are part of a broader strategy to incorporate digital innovation into city services. “These changes aim to enhance operational efficiency and improve the parking experience through the use of Artificial Intelligence and automation,”.

City Parking says it will continue to update motorists as more zones move toward the self-service model.
