In Kadoma’s Rimuka suburb, Sister Chipo Jemwa — a state-registered nurse recently retrenched from a private clinic — has converted her small backyard into a free community physiotherapy space.
Using improvised equipment such as buckets, ropes and bricks, she now treats up to 40 people a week, mostly elderly residents with mobility problems who cannot afford clinic fees.
Her work gained attention after a neighbour posted a short video on Facebook showing her assisting an 82-year-old widower to regain balance.
Sister Jemwa says she relies on small donations of gloves and bandages but insists she won’t charge for basic sessions. A local councillor has since offered to help her apply for formal licensing.
