Opta Analyst Rates Zimbabwe at 0.26% Chance of Winning AFCON

Zimbabwe has been given a 0.26% chance of winning the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to probability rankings released by global football data firm Opta Analyst.

The figures place Zimbabwe among the lowest-ranked teams in the 24-nation field, ahead of only Botswana, which carries a 0.12% chance.

Morocco top the list with the highest probability of winning the tournament at 19.16%, followed by Egypt at 12.75%, Algeria at 12.27% and Senegal at 11.66%. Nigeria complete the top five with a 7.59% chance.

Côte d’Ivoire (6.62%), Tunisia (6.61%), Mali (5.95%) and Cameroon (5.11%) also feature among the upper-ranked teams based on the statistical model.

Within the Southern African region, South Africa carry a 2.11% chance and Zambia 1.14%, reflecting comparatively stronger continental positions.
