NANGO appoints substantive Executive Director

ZIMBABWE: 'We need CSOs to continue working and defending people's rights'

 The National Board of the National Association of Non-Governmental Organisation has appointed Ernest Nyimai as its Executive Director.

In a statement, NANGO said Nyimai is an economist experienced in public policy analysis, public financial management, development economics, monitoring and evaluation and strategic thinking.

“His focus on the value proposition to members, growing stakeholder value and consultation has proved instrumental in furthering the NANGO vision.

“He is passionate about strengthening the voices of Civil Society and enhancing, coordination, convening and collaboration amongst CSO, with the imperative to strengthen CSO impact and operations efficiencies.”

NANGO also said the Board was impressed with Nyimai’s ability during his acting period, to integrate the founding values that seek to empower member organisations and build their capacity to deliver on their mandates while ensuring the Sustainable Development Goals that been elusive to achieve are on track leaving no one behind.

“His appointment coincides with the commencement of our new Strategic Plan with all stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries and will be instrumental in advancing the NANGO vision and mission.

“We hope you will fully support him and our initiative to build a strong coercive and resilient civil society in Zimbabwe that delivers on its set mandates,” NANGO added.

NANGO is a non-denominational coordinating body of NGOs in Zimbabwe. It takes a leading role in facilitating the harmonisation and collaboration between and among NGOs.
