The Masvingo Criminal Investigation Department crack team has arrested notorious jailbird Tafadzwa Kanengoni in connection with the murder of a shop owner, Michael Munhungowarwa, 41.
The suspect pounced on the deceased’s tuckshop along Kaguvi Street, Mucheke B, Masvingo, on January 7 at around 2100 hours.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, inspector Kudakwashe Dhehwa, confirmed the arrest to Zim Now.
“The suspect was arrested in Zvishavane and brought to Masvingo yesterday. He will appear before the courts tomorrow facing theft and murder charges.
“He was in November arrested for unlawful entry and theft when he stole a pistol in a shop in Masvingo town,” he said.
Insp Dhehwa said Kanengoni was again was arrested for another armed robbery in Target Kopje.
Munhungowarwa was shot while preparing to close the shop for the day in the company of his wife Martha Taguta, 26.
Kanengoni stole an unknown amount of money before shooting the deceased with a pistol.
The suspect was found in possession of a firearm.
