Harare resumes night cleaning

The City of Harare has resumed its night cleaning schedule which was introduced late last year.

In a notice, the council said night cleaning was mainly targeting the Central Business District but the programme has now extended to the suburbs with illegal dump clearance.

Yesterday, the illegal dump clearance at night was in Budiriro 4 and 5 and areas which have already been covered include Budiriro 2.

Speaking during a night dump clearance in Budiriro 5, Environmental Management Committee Chairperson Councillor Blessing Duma said in the next 25 days, all constituencies should have been covered.

“We are putting two to three days per constituency for night dump clearance so that we make sure that all those massive dump clearances are done during the night.

“We continue with our normal programme of dump clearance during the day. When we combine the two, we would find that our work force and resources they become times two. Automatically what was taking us 100 days,” he said.
