Following the expected dismissal of the Dynamos FC executive committee on Wednesday afternoon, a wave of relief has swept through the club's massive fanbase. Board Chairman Bernard Marriot-Lusengo took the decisive step of dissolving the Moses Maunganidze-led leadership, citing chronic administrative failures that have hampered the "Glamour Boys."
The purge, which removed Maunganidze along with vice-chairman Clemence Chimbari, treasurer Justice Mubayi, secretary-general Webster Marechera, and marketing head David Chikomo, comes after months of mounting pressure from stakeholders.
"A Necessary Clean-Up": Supporters Speak Out
Twenty-four hours after the announcement, the atmosphere around the club is one of cautious optimism. For the supporters, who have grown frustrated with boardroom instability and the team's inconsistent form, Marriot’s decision is seen as a vital first step toward recovery.
Writing on social media on Wednesday fans were unanimous in their approval of the Chairman's move:
Tinashe "DeMbare" Moyo "This was long overdue. You cannot have a giant like Dynamos operating like a tuck-shop while we struggle on the pitch. Marriot did what had to be done because the leadership was out of touch. We need professionals who understand that this club is a brand, not a playground for poor management."

Gladys Mutasa "We welcome the decision with open arms. The previous leadership failed to communicate with us and failed to secure the sponsorship deals a club of this magnitude deserves. Marriot has finally wielded the axe on a team that was going nowhere, and we hope the next group actually puts the fans first."
Farai "Buju" Zimba "It’s about the winning mentality. Lately, we’ve been more famous for boardroom squabbles than for what happens on the pitch. By dissolving the committee, the Chairman has finally listened to our cries for sanity. We want our glory days back, and it starts with getting rid of people who don't feel the weight of this jersey."
In a formal statement released on Wednesday, Marriot-Lusengo emphasized that the decision was driven by the need to put the club's "true custodians"—the fans—first.
“It’s with a heavy heart that l, Bernard Marriott Lusengo, Board Chairman of Dynamos FC, announce the immediate dissolution of the club’s entire-executive leadership due to failure to run the club appropriately. Our supporters and stakeholders remain our top priority. You are the true custodians of this great club, and your concerns have been heard."
The Chairman further noted that the intervention was intended to "restore sanity, stability, and a winning mentality" at the country’s most decorated football institution.
The board is now expected to appoint a new leadership structure to oversee operations as the club enters a critical transition period. With the fans firmly behind the Chairman’s latest move, the pressure is now on to appoint a committee capable of attracting investment and restoring the club to its "rightful place of glory."
