A Victoria Falls man has been arrested together with his 17-year-old lover for unlawful termination of pregnancy.

Given Nsingo, 25, of 6613 Mkhosana, who owns a fleet of tourist transfer vehicles and operates tuckshops in the resort town, allegedly impregnated the juvenile girl and helped her to terminate the pregnancy by giving her abortion pills.

Nsingo was reportedly in a sexual relationship with the 17-year-old girl who is in Form Three.

The girl discovered that she was three months’ pregnant recently and had an abortion last week with Nsingo’s help.

The girl’s mother assisted her in burying the foetus in their yard.

Neighbours alerted the police after suspecting that the girl had terminated the pregnancy. A medical examination confirmed that she had indeed terminated the pregnancy, leading to her arrest, together with Nsingo.

The two were supposed to appear in court yesterday before Victoria Falls magistrate Goodwill Mavenge but the case was referred back to police for further investigations and they will return to court on February 20.

The girl led police to where they had buried the foetus and it was exhumed.
