A 52-year-old man from Headlands has been sentenced to nine months in prison for physically abusing his wife.
The Rusape Magistrates’ Court handed down the sentence following an incident that occurred on February 8, 2026.
According to court proceedings, the victim had returned home from a funeral at a nearby village when her husband confronted her over allegedly staying behind.

He accused her of prostitution, sparking an argument that escalated into violence.
The court heard that the man grabbed the victim by her braids, kicked her several times and threw a stone at her head.
The victim managed to escape and sought refuge at her in-laws’ homestead, from where she reported the matter to the police.
The man was subsequently arrested and charged with domestic violence.
