Rtd Col Tshinga Dube, who has recently been appointed into the National Railways of Zimbabwe board, believes the parastatal has the potential to develop.
The former Minister’s appointment was announced by Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister, Felix Mhona via the ministry’s official twitter handle on Saturday, January 21.
“I'm very happy to join the NRZ board and be part of you in developing this company. I've been following what's happening within the NRZ in the press, internet, and so forth and I think you have done very, very well so far," he said at an induction meeting held to familiarise him with NRZ’s operations.
The railways’ general manager, Respina Ziyanduko, said her company would benefit tremendously from the inclusion of Rtd Col Dube who holds a Master's Degree in Electro-Tech from MADI Institute of Technology in Moscow, Russia.
He also has vast experience in Government, in different boards, organizations, and interactions with a number of international players.
“We are really excited as NRZ to have you as one of our board members. Our board is one of hands-on type in terms of ensuring that they keep the organization running and the management on their toes," she said.
Rtd Col Dube will serve for a three-year term ending December 6, 2025.
He comes at a time the NRZ is in the process of transforming itself into an efficient public entity as it grapples many challenges, among them ageing locomotives and low staff morale.
