Police are investigating three cases of matricide after the deaths of two toddlers and an infant.
The cases of the two toddlers arise from the confession of a 24-yeaar-old woman from Mashangana Vilage, Buhera to murdering her two kids on January 19.
The suspect allegedly confessed to some villagers that she crashed the heads of her two kids against a rock several times during a prayer session after hearing a voice instructing her to kill all the kids.
One of the kids, Calvin Maputsa, two months, sustained head injuries and died on the spot, while the other, 2 years, sustained a swollen head and was admitted at a Murambinda Mission Hospital where he died.
In an unrelated case, police in Lupane arrested Gugulethu Khumalo, 18, in connection with a case of infanticide.
The suspect’s baby girl, seven weeks, was found dead with froth coming through the nose, in a bedroom hut on January 19 at Tshongogwana Village.
Two hammers were found on top of blankets next to the body.
