Police Officer Accused of Negligently Discharging Firearm at South Korean Ambassador’s Residence

 

A Zimbabwe Republic Police officer has appeared in court facing charges of negligently discharging a firearm at the official residence of the Ambassador of South Korea to Zimbabwe.

Ephrison Wurayayi (42) appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court in connection with the incident, which allegedly occurred on April 7, 2026. He is expected to return to court on April 28, 2026.

According to court proceedings, Wurayayi was on official duty at the embassy residence when he allegedly caused or permitted an AK-47 rifle, serial number 2054, to discharge one live round at approximately 1310 hours.

The circumstances surrounding the firearm discharge remain under investigation.
