Winky D Crowned Golden African Dancehall Artist of the Year

 

Zimbabwean Zimdancehall heavyweight Winky D has been named Golden African Dancehall Artist of the Year, in an accolade announced in last week in Ghana.

The recognition sees Winky D emerging ahead of a strong field of nominees from West Africa’s vibrant dancehall and reggae scene, including Ghanaian stars Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Fancy Gadam, and Samini. 

The win, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, has been interpreted by fans as a reaffirmation of his cross-continental appeal and staying power in a competitive music landscape.
