A 38-year-old man from Murombedzi allegedly broke into a house and stole US$42 000 in cash after forcing entry through a garage door.
Micheal Muvengwa reportedly targeted the residence on April 10, 2026, after the homeowner had secured all doors and left the property unattended while travelling to Harare’s Central Business District.

It is alleged that he broke the garage door lock before forcing open the kitchen door to gain access to the house. Once inside, the intruder allegedly ransacked the rooms and took US$42 000 in cash from a bedroom before leaving the scene.
The break-in was discovered later the same day when the homeowner returned and noticed signs of forced entry.
Police investigations led to the recovery of a spanner believed to have been used during the incident, which was kept as an exhibit. Nothing has been recovered from the stolen money.
