The Embassy of India is using yoga as a tool of cultural diplomacy to strengthen people-to-people relations between India and Zimbabwe, with more than 300 students participating in a yoga and wellness session at the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo.
Addressing participants, India's Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Bramha Kumar, said yoga continues to serve as a bridge between nations by promoting wellness, mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
"Yoga transcends borders, cultures and generations. It is a timeless practice that brings harmony between the mind and body while encouraging healthier, more balanced lifestyles in today's demanding world," he said.
Kumar said the growing participation of Zimbabwean youths in yoga programmes reflects the deepening cultural connections between the two countries.
"Through yoga, we are not only promoting wellness but also strengthening the bonds of friendship and cultural understanding between the people of India and Zimbabwe," he said.
The event was organised in partnership with the Zimbabwe Medical Students Association (ZIMSA) and The Art of Living Foundation. Students were introduced to yoga postures, breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques aimed at promoting physical health, mental resilience and stress management.
