Married man killed for propositioning his lover's minor daughter

A Seke man is alleged to have killed another for propositioning a minor who was in his custody. The minor was the child of the lover of the deceased

Tashinga Alfred Munhenga, 28, of Mhonda Village, Seke appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates' Court facing a murder charge.

The court heard that in December 2022 the victim proposed love to a 15 year old minor who lived with Munhenga.

The minor’s mother was a lover to the deceased, who was married to another woman.

On New Year’s Day Munhenga instructed the minor to entice the now deceased pretending by pretending to accept his proposal.

The deceased got to the house and while he was in the process of taking off his clothes, Munhenga and his associate Obvious Matake (currently on remand over same matter), appeared.

They beat the deceased with booted feet, empty bottles and sticks saying they wanted to teach him a lesson as he was a pervert for wanting to have sex with both mother and daughter.

The state alleges that the deceased was no longer ambulatory by the end of the assault which went on for about two hours.

Munhenga and Matake then carried the deceased and dumped him at a local cemetery. The pair allegedly took the deceased’s mobile phone, a pair of trousers, a pair of jeans and a jacket.

At around 1100 hours the deceased was found lying in serious anguish with signs of injury all over the body. He was taken to Chitungwiza Central Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

On 10 January his condition deteriorated and he and was taken back to the same hospital where died.

It was declared that the death was due to the injuries he sustained from the beatings. Munhenga was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
