Seke-Chikomba women’s quota Member of Parliament and Assistant Speaker of Parliament Honourable Tatenda Mavetera posted the video calling for a stop to abuse of women.

“Please police arrest that man, that is abuse of women and no-one should take the law into their own hands otherwise tinoparara,” she said.

Some of those who responded said that the named person was beating up the two women and a man as they had repeatedly stolen from him.

A few said any employer who has been in the same situation will understand the action of beating up the workers.

But  the majority condemned the vigilante approach, saying that while they don't condone theft, wronged parties should use the justice system and not matters into their own hands.

Some Twitter users alleged that the man being called “Boss” is the son of a prominent politician and is well known for being physically abusive towards workers. They said that he abuses his father's political power and is an “untouchable”.

“This is the cancer consuming our country. Anyone who feels he wields any power imaginable ends up taking the law into their hands. I agree with you, this guy must be arrested. Whatever these people did, he should have reported them to the police,” tweeted one observer.

Another riled up netizen emphasized that the employer should have been more civil than tying up women.

“The country has a bad culture of violence! Sadly, he will probably get away with this. He should have either just fired them after work to recover what they had stolen. He has an anger problem and it’s barbaric to tie people,” said another observer.

Other Twimbos called Mavetera out for only talking about the women yet there is a man who is clearly also a victim in the clip.

Police said they had not yet seen the video and they encourage members of the public to report any crime and not take matters into their own hands.
