Hulengende, wife arrested amid promoter complaints

Zimdancehall musician Hulengende and his wife, Malloti, have been arrested following their performance at the Harare edition of Doek and Slay held at Glamis Arena.

The arrest comes amid mounting complaints from event promoters who accuse the couple of failing to fulfil agreed performance commitments after receiving advance deposits.

According to allegations circulating among promoters, the pair have on several occasions either failed to turn up for booked shows or arrived late, leaving organisers facing financial losses and disappointed audiences.

The complaints reportedly extend beyond Zimbabwe, with promoters in the United Kingdom also said to have raised concerns over similar incidents involving the musicians.

The latest arrest has brought renewed attention to the couple’s relationship with promoters and the handling of performance contracts and advance payments.

However, details of the charges they are facing, including what specifically triggered the latest arrest, were not immediately available.

Further developments are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the case and whether the allegations by promoters will form part of the charges against the couple.
