President Emmerson Mnangagwa will next week meet representatives from different business sectors to discuss investment opportunities, milestones achieved so far, and strategies to avert some of the challenges facing the economy.

Called the “ED Mnangagwa Business Summit”, the conference will bring together high-level delegates and would be held under the theme “Enhancing Development Through Public-Private Sector Engagement for Prosperity”.

One of the event organisers, who is also Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers president, Denford Mutashu said in a statement that the president had accepted the invite to meet them on Friday, February 10 to deliberate on all matters affecting businesses.

“The essence of this high-level business summit is to highlight to the President opportunities and threats in the business environment and seek requisite Government intervention to assist businesses to continue growing.”

The summit, Mutashu said, will focus on key economic drivers such as agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, mining, exports, financial services, new investments, and tourism.

Renowned business executives who are part of the core organising team, Mutashu said, include Eddie Cross, Emmanuel Fundira, industrialist Busisa Moyo, Tafadzwa Musarara, Alex Mhembere and Alios Burutsa.

Zimbabwe Chinese Business Association members will also attend the meeting with Mr Li from PG slotted as one of the speakers.

Mutashu also said that they hoped that the summit will be an annual event which give business a platform to engage with national leadership on critical economic issues.

The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce welcomed this summit saying it was an opportunity to tackle pressing issues and facilitate growth in the economy.

“We feel honoured to host the highest office in the land and get the opportunity to interact directly as business with His Excellency and share his economic vision for the country so that we pull the rope in the same direction towards achieving our national economic vision,” said ZNCC Matabeleland Chapter chairperson, Mackenzie Dongo,
