A police officer based at Chombira station in Chiweshe, Loveness Tsoorai, on Wednesday appeared before Chiweshe magistrate Charity Maunga after she sold dagga to a schoolboy.

Sheappeared together with two investigating officers, David Tawanda Hama and Aaron Muza, who had tampered with the dagga.

Prosecuting, Munyaradzi Negomasha said on January 31, a Form Four pupil at Nyachuru Secondary School bought a twist of dagga from Tsoorai and went to school.

He was caught smoking by the school head who accompanied him to the police station and filed a report.

Hama and Muza went to Tsoora’s house and conducted a search whereupon a five-litre container full of dagga twists was discovered.

On their way to the police station, they tampered with the dagga and only two twists were said to be Tsoorai’s so that she could be fined at station level.

The fine caused a public outcry, leading to the arrest of the three.

The matter continues on February 10.
