A bogus ex-constable is on the prawl, going around claiming to recruit potential applicants into the Zimbabwe Republic Police for the 2023 intake, the ZRP has warned.

According to Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, Evelyn Dzama approaches applicants pretending to be a serving member of the police and asking them to deposit money into her Eco-cash number 0776 514 540.

She also asks the potential applicants to send money through money transfer agencies such as Mukuru, claiming that she is able to process their recruitment into the force.

“Applicants are to take note of a fraudster in the name of Evelyn Dzama, an ex-constable, who was discharged from the Service on 14 September 2020 for committing similar fraud cases.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police does not engage third parties in the recruitment process or charge a fee,” Nyathi said.

The police in Gokwe are currently looking for the suspected fraudster and have urged the public to make a report when such an incident occurs.
