The Police have intensified the fight against drug and substance abuse after the launch of an operation, “No to Dangerous Drugs and Illicit Substances: See Something, Say Something”.
During the operation, the Police urged the public to report drug peddlers in their respective areas.
“The Police are conducting raids, stop and searches, blitz and awareness campaigns.
“The public is urged to report anyone abusing drugs or offering drugs to the youths at any nearest Police Station.
On February 3, Police in Entumbane, Bulawayo, arrested a 38-year-old man during an operation targeting drug dealers who were in possession of unlawful drugs.
Choruma was found with 4 x 200 mls of Benylin syrup, 01 x Goldgessi syrup, 30ml extra white skin lightening cream and 08 x gym steroids pills.
On Friday, the police arrested 34-year-old Munyaradzi Mudyaranji after he was found with 50 bottles of cough syrup BronCleer.
The illicit cough syrup was reportedly intended for commuter ranks in Central Harare.
The authorities have urged school authorities to treat drug abuse as a criminal offence.
Meanwhile, Police in Harare have arrested Willie Chindundu,27, in connection with a case of kidnapping which occurred on February 3.
Chindundu reportedly captured a one year-old boy at a house in Glen Norah C and hid him in his white apostolic garment.
“The boy was playing in the yard while his mother was doing chores. The suspect was seen by members of the community leading to his arrest,” Police said.
