The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company has started conducting an exercise of retrofitting prepaid meters on all premises with post-paid meters in Mbare.
In a notice, ZETDC said operations started on February 21, 2023 until further notice and operating hours 0800hours to 1700hours during weekdays and weekends.
It also said identification of staff will be through ZETDC branded work worksuits and staff will be in possession of official ZETDC ID cards.
ZETDC said customers are not required to pay anything for this exercise.
Last year, ZETDC procured 100 000 prepaid meters as it targets completing the placement of all its customers under this system by June this year.
Already the prepaid electricity system, which started a decade ago, is 90 percent complete with 732 546 households connected to the system as of last year.
