The return of Highlanders legend Madinda Ndlovu as assistant coach for the Bulawayo club has raised eyebrows.

Madinda was unveiled on Monday, and he will also be the Director of Junior teams.

Questions have been raised on how he will fair with Portuguese Baltemar Jose De Oliveira Brito, who had brought his own assistant coach from Portuguese.

Highlanders' insiders said the move to bring back Madinda at the helm of the club is deliberate and very soon Brito will be elbowed out.

“This is more of a succession plan. Brito was not that convincing, and Bosso came up with the plan that if he fails to post good results, Brito will be shown the exit door and Madinda will take over,” said an inside source.

The status of Brito’s other two assistants Antonio Torres and Joel Luphahla remains unknown as the duo ended the season sitting in the terraces as they did not have CAF A licences as required by Zifa for anyone to sit on the PSL technical bench.

Highlanders’ spokesperson, Nozibelo Maphosa, said Madinda is only their assistant coach, and it will not change.

“He is only our Assistant Coach, and it will stay like that, these suggestions are lies,” Maphosa told Zim Now.
