Harare magistrate Lazini Ncube has acquitted Wicknell Chivayo of the charges he was facing of defrauding the Zimbabwe Power Company in a power production deal the two parties had entered into.
The magistrate upheld the Intratrek boss’s application for refusal of further remand of the matter and requested a not guilty verdict.
In his ruling, Lazini noted that there was an unreasonable delay in prosecuting the accused and his company.
The State was initially opposed to the application.
