Zimbabwe School Examinations Council has extended Ordinary and Advanced Level June 2023 examination registration to Friday March 24 with a revisited exchange rate.
ZIMSEC spokesperson Nicky Dhlamini confirmed the development and encouraged candidates to visit their nearest school or centre for registration.
She said, “Parents and guardians are guided to pay the fees in a currency of their choice, namely Rand, USD or ZWL. Payments in ZWL are to be made using the prevailing interbank USD to ZWL exchange rate as of March 17, 2023, which is ZWL$1005 to USD$1.”
Dhlamini said Stakeholders and clients must note that government subsidy does not apply to candidates retaking any subjects, BEAM does not support retake examinations and candidates should have fulfilled the CALA requirements for them to sit for June examinations.
The payments will not be done directly into ZIMSEC accounts, but to the schools or registration centres for forward remission to the examinations council.
Government said it would subsidise the costs per subject in public schools.
Ordinary Level candidates in public schools will pay US$11 per subject with the government subsidising the cost by US$24.
Private candidates in public schools will pay US$24, the same as private schools’ candidates.
For Advanced Level, public schools candidates are expected to pay US$22 with private candidates in public schools forking out US$48, the same amount set to be paid by candidates in private schools.
