In one of the early surprises, war veteran and former trade unionist, Joseph Chinotimba, who has represented Buhera South in the National Assembly since 2013, lost the right to stand on a Zanu PF ticket in the forthcoming elections after losing to Ngoni Mudekunye in yesterday’s primary elections.
Zanu PF held its primary elections yesterday to choose candidates who will represent the party in local government, National Assembly and Senate elections.
Reports say that Chinotimba lost the election by a huge margin after polling a paltry 1 356 votes.
Mudekunye garnered 7 890 votes while the other candidate, one F. Chimbare got 2 870 votes.
